Welcome to Malawi
Concern Universal helps over a million people in rural Malawi every year. Established in 1988 during civil war in neighbouring Mozambique, Concern Universal supported Mozambican refugees as well as the host Malawian communities. When the conflict ended, many Mozambican’s returned home but Concern Universal’s work in Malawi continued.
Concern Universal Malawi currently works in 10 Districts across Central and Southern Malawi, but focuses efforts on 5 Districts where we have a particularly strong track-record and partnership with District authorities – Dedza, Ntcheu, Balaka, Phalombe and Thyolo.

Funders and partners
We know from decades of experience that by working with others – and pooling our expertise and resources – we can achieve much more than we ever could on our own. That might mean working with small, grassroots organisations that have a better understanding of the local context, or joining with other international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to reach greater numbers of people with our campaign messages.
